Summer is the perfect time to pamper your skin with a scrub. Regular exfoliation removes dead skin cells leaving your skin soft, hydrated and glowing in no time – and ready for a fabulous tan! There are lots of different types of scrubs out there for the face and body, based on ingredients such as salt and sugar. They both have special properties, but what’s the difference, and which is the right one for you? Read on for the nitty-gritty.

Scrub tips

Traditional Ayurvedic medicine shows that scrubbing is an extremely effective way to purify your body and stimulate your energy flow. Here’s how to do it:
– apply scrub to damp skin
– gently massage in a circular motion
– rinse off with warm water
– enjoy a good scrub once or twice a week (depending on your skin type) and your body will thank you!

Salt and sugar naturally dissolve during application, which means they’ll gradually transform from a scrub into a soft polish, making your skin even more gorgeous.

Salt

The ancient Egyptians understood the importance of natural salt in their beauty routines. In combination with olive oil or vitamin E-rich almond oil, salt’s exfoliating properties totally rejuvenated their skin. Salt scrubs are just the thing for dry skin. Because salt is coarser and more abrasive than sugar, for best results we recommend it for exfoliating the dryer areas of your body. A regular scrub routine can renew and revitalize even the driest skin.

Salt has healing and antiseptic properties, too, for an intensely purifying and nourishing effect. Scrubbing with salt can smooth away those bumps that can form on the back of the arms and legs, which occur when dead skin cells block hair follicles.

Our salt scrubs are made from the finest ingredients. For an intensely exfoliating, tingly effect, our Hammam Hot Scrub contains purifying sea salt, warming ginger and eucalyptus, leaving your skin incredibly soft, energized and refreshed, and your mood lifted. Our Himalaya Scrub contains prehistoric crystal salts from the Himalayas. This sea salt cools, smoothes and refreshes the skin, fresh mint revitalizes the body and sweet almond oil softens and protects. Whichever salt scrub you choose, your skin will be beautifully smooth and revitalized.

Sugar

The ancient Romans had the right idea, and often washed with a combination of sugar, honey and milk. Sugar scrubs are a bit more gentle on the skin than those made with salt, as sugar particles are smaller and less abrasive – and are therefore recommended if your skin is slightly sensitive or you want a softer scrub. Our organic sugar scrubs eliminate impurities and gently slough away dead skin cells. Sugar is a natural exfoliant, and when combined with softening oils and our beautiful scents, can transform your dull skin into glowing loveliness.

Containing sweet orange and cedarwood, our Good Luck Scrub surrounds you with its warm, sweet aroma, for a wonderfully uplifting experience. Our Sakura Scrub contains the luxury scent of Japanese cherry blossom combined with organic sugar. There’s a scent for every mood.

Follow your sugar scrub with a leisurely warm bath, if you can. Skin will feel smooth and you’ll feel like a new person. Don’t forget to follow your scrub with a moisturizer to lock in your new-found softness. So scrub away: you’ll love the new skin you’re in, your circulation will improve and you’ll find
yourself with a whole lot more energy. Lovely!
