Bringing some natural beauty into your home is not only good for decoration, it has proven to ease your stress, improve your state of mind, and purify the air in your home.

Modern homes are so well-isolated that they’re great at keeping the warmth in, but hardly let any fresh air come through. The result is that pollutants, like pollen, bacteria and even mold gradually build up, which puts our well being at risk. Of course opening up a window regularly is important, but it’s often not enough to counteract the effect of limited airflow consistently throughout the day.

The great thing about plants is that they act as natural air purifiers. Just like trees and other vegetation supply the earth with oxygen and absorb pollution, certain houseplants can do the same for your home. Therefore they do not only add beauty to your home, but they can make your personal sanctuary even healthier for you. Try to have at lease one plant per 10m2 to keep the quality of the air optimal and help you feel your best.

Aside from their physical benefits, plants have an effect on your mental well being too. Add them to your home office to boost productivity or experience their relaxing effects wherever you enjoy your favourite me-time. Keeping plants indoors may seem like a time-consuming task, but there are many purifying houseplants that can thrive when you aren’t blessed with a green thumb. Plants like the Ficus, Aglaonema, Spathiphyllum and Dracaena draco require little maintenance but will all boost the air around you. No matter which plant you choose, you’re sure to add beauty, health and relaxation to your home.
